Review of State for Quality of Higher Education SABER PRO


The State Exam quality of higher education, is a standardized instrument for external quality assessment of higher education in Colombia. Part, with other processes and actions, a set of instruments that the Government has to assess the quality of public education services and to exercise its inspection and surveillance.

This test is applied to undergraduate programs students who are about to complete their curriculum, that is, they have completed at least 75% of credits for that program or intending to graduate in the year following the implementation date of the examination. For these students the presentation of these tests is required as a condition of grade, in addition to the requirements that each school have established.

The presentation of the quality review of higher education, ECAES, NOT constitute an additional requirement for those grade 14 October 2009, date of issuance of Decree 3963, had finished their curriculum. This test may also be submitted independently and voluntarily by those who have graduated undergraduate academic programs.
Through ECAES assess the skills that can be valued external examinations on a massive scale, including those genera that are needed for effective academic performance or professional future graduates of higher education. Thus, in 2010 ECAES apply for generic and / or specific, depending on the training program evaluation. REVIEW

  • OBJECTIVES
According to Decree 3963 of October 2009 are ECAES the following objectives:

  • Produce value-added indicators of higher education in relation to the level skills of those entering at this level, providing information for comparison between programs, institutions and methodologies, and show its evolution over time . Serve

  • TARGET POPULATION
The ECAES should be presented as compulsory for all students who have completed at least 75% of credits for that program or intend to graduate in following the date of application of the test.
higher education institutions have a responsibility to report to the ICFES to all students required to submit the ECAES.
Each of the students reported to be making the application process directly or through their institutions educational and submitted to the test in accordance with procedures established by the ICFES.

  • What and how is it evaluated?

The quality review of higher education, seeks in addition to the objectives proposed in the decree, assessing the ability to cope with the problems in the practice of the profession and contribute in improving the quality training.

  • Interpretative: refers to actions performed by a person in order to understand a situation in a "context" specific.   • Purpose: refers to actions performed by a person in order to propose alternatives for decision or action and to establish new relationships or links between events or theoretical perspectives. The proposal involves hypotheses, solve problems, establish regularities and generalizations, suggest alternative solutions to problems and establish performance trends of a system.
